Mardi Himal base camp trek

The Mardi Himal base camp route opened in 2012 is relatively new and less- traveled trekking route in the Annapurna region of Nepal located just east of Machhapuchre Himal. It offers a wonderful opportunity to experience the impressive beauty of the Himalayas, including close – up views of iconic peaks like Machhapuchre(6993 m), Annapurna south (7219 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m), as well as a chance to experience the local culture and natural beauty of the area.

The Mardi Himal base camp (4550 m) trek offers a diverse range of landscapes from lush forests to alpine meadows and to the snow- covered terrain near the base camp. The trail winds along small paths through ancient rhododendron forests until you climb out around 3300 m.  Moreover, the trek provides an opportunity to interact with the locals and learn about the regional customs and civilizations. The area is home to several ethnic groups, including the Chhetri, Magar, Gurung, Brahmins, and many others. You can witness traditional method of producing ghee, preserving food, growing plants, and people working with bamboo.

Mardi Himal stands at an altitude of 5587 m above the sea level is considered to be moderate trek. It involves steep ascents and descents, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. At the same time, Obtaining travel insurance is highly recommended for any trekking activities including Mardi Himal base camp trek. The trek includes high altitude trekking which may be physically challenging and dangerous. The best time to trek Mardi Himal base camp are during the spring seasons and the autumn seasons. These months generally offer the best weather and clear views.

Spring (March to May)

Spring often call the season of rebirth. The buds start to appear on trees and bushes and plants start to grow new bright green leaves and colorful flowers. The temperature begins to rise and the days grow longer with stronger sunlight. It is the best time to tackle treks with high passes.

Autumn (September to November)
