Langtang valley yoga trek in Nepal

Langtang valley is one of the most accessible trekking regions in the country, known for its beautiful landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, rich cultural heritage, picturesque villages, and panoramic mountain views. During the Langtang valley yoga trek, you will trek through lush forests, bamboo groves, serene alpine meadows and colorful rhododendron filled valleys. The trek takes you along the Langtang River and passes through traditional Tamang and Tibetan villages. The highest point reached on the trek is Kyanjin Gompa (3800 m) an ancient Buddhist monastery which offers mesmerizing panoramic views of the Langtang range.


Along the trekking route, there will be designated spots for yoga practice such as meadows or monasteries, led by experienced yoga instructors or guides. Yoga is usually practiced in the morning and evening in serene and peaceful settings. These sessions are the perfect way to relax, stretch your muscles, and find peace amidst the serenity of the Himalayas.

1) Cultures and Religions

Among themselves, the local inhabitants of the Langtang Valley refer to each other as ‘langtangpa’. They generally follow Tibetan Buddhism, and speak a Tibetan language that is closely related to the Tibetan spoken Kyirong, southern Tibet. As you take a walk around you will see many mani stones, stupas, gumbas, and prayer wheels. 

It is respectful to pass these objects with your right side nearest to the object, in a clockwise direction. Avoid sitting and standing on mani stones, stupas, tables used for worship, or anything that is a religious symbol, as that is considered disrespectful.


2) Climate and Best time to visit

The average daytime temperature at lower villages in Langtang Valley Trek ranges from 10°C TO 20°C but nights and temperatures at higher places become unpredictable.

The spring and the autumn season is the best season for the Langtang yoga Trek in terms of weather and convenience. The monsoon/ summer offer you incredible mountain scenes, but trails are slippery, and often time’s landslide blocks the trekking path. 

However, spring and falls are the most favorable season for all trekking regions of Nepal. Similarly, the days are also sunny, the heat is abundant, and the evenings are quite chilly. Above all there is very chance of you falling in love with the blessed charm of the Langtang Valley Gosainkunda. So this eventually means that every season is tailor- made for being on this particular trekking journey.


3) Altitude Sickness

Even though the chances of anyone getting altitude sickness on the Langtang Trek are rare, you can get it if you are or have started from the sea level. Your body may have a difficult time adjusting to the higher altitudes. There is actually no fixture to getting altitude sickness. Anyone can get it. So, it is always better to take the necessary measures to avoid it.

If you get altitude sickness on your trek, please inform your guide and group members immediately. Your guide will provide you with immediate first aid. Do not try to ascend any further after that. Take a rest for a entire day. If the symptoms do not go away after proper rest and medication, you should go back down to lower altitudes. While ascending you may feel symptoms like nausea, headache, difficulty in breathing, increased heart rate, and uneasiness. And, if the symptoms persist for a longer duration then know that your body could not resist the altitude variation. If you feel these symptoms, please let your guide and your group know.

 

4) Guide and Porter

The Nepal Tourism Bord has implemented that, all the trekkers are required to obtain services of Licensed trekking guide and to obtain TIMS CARD through authorized trekking agencies registered with the government of Nepal. It helps to avoid theft, robbery and get off the track during the trip.

Furthermore, our guides are technically competent, experienced, active and well-trained. They always carry essential safety equipment, gear,and first aid kids. We assure that you are with a safe guide along with guide insurance.


5) Foods and Accommodations

The Langtang valley treks offers you a Nepalese Dal Bhat for lunch. This combination of boiled rice, lentil soup, mixed vegetable curry and pickle with an unlimited supply keeps you fueled all day. The other options include fried rice, pasta, pizza, and spaghetti, momo, and noodles. You can also have tea and coffee with some ginger honey lemon. Similarly, there are some other local foods of Nepal that you will definitely loved to eat. You should have Thakali Khana and Momo, Dhindo and Gundruk, Sel roti, Yak cheese, and Nepalese curd are equally delicious. On a cold day, Tibetan noodles soup (Thukpa) and butter tea are also a must have.

The room has 2 to 3 small beds with clean mattresses, a pillow, and a blanket. The bathroom is available on sharing basis. Hot water is available for some additional charge. Most hotels now have geyser, otherwise, you will get a bucket of warm water.


6) Travel Insurance

Any trek in Nepal, including the Langtang valley yoga trek, demands travel insurance. It is necessary for peace of mind and financial protection in the event of an unforeseen accident. Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu Arrival and Transfer to Hotel

On your arrival to Kathmandu from Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), the representative from Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours welcome you and then you shall be transferred to the categorized Hotel in Kathmandu to which you are comfortable with.

Later in the afternoon, you shall have 2 hours yoga session, yogic breathing, and meditation for relaxation.

Day 2 : Drive from Kathmandu to Syaprubesi

On our very first day, we take a local bus to Syaprubesi (1550m) which takes 7-8 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. We shall enjoy the scenic drive making through Trishuli valley of the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. If you wish to go by Jeep we can manage that but there will be an extra charge for the jeep as its cost is not included in the package.

After reaching the hotel, in the evening time there will be 2 hours retreat yoga session for relaxation in the hotel.

Day 3 : Trek to Briddhim

Starting the day with 1 hour of retreat yoga and meditation we will move ahead. From Syaprubesi our trail trek starts and we head toward Bridhhim (2229m) where we shall be accompanied by beautiful green forests, birds and other small animals, crossing several suspension bridges and tea houses on the way. We have a very short trek but the trail goes straight up, a steep one.

To end the day, we shall have another 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session at today’s destination.

Day 4 : Trek to Lama Hotel

Our trek will begin with a quick 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session for the relaxed beginning of the day. We have the similar trek on this day like the previous day and by this day we shall have the few ideas about our surroundings. We have a short trek of 4-5 hours to Lama Hotel (2500m).

After reaching the Lama Hotel, we shall be doing 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session in the evening time.

Day 5 : Trek to Langtang

Same Pleasant Retreat yoga and meditation for 1 hour will be the beginning of the day. Today also we will have a pleasant walk as we follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest until we reach Ghoda Tabela (3030m). This surrounding area is densely filled with wild habitat and many small babblers and lots of medicinal plants. After, lunch we will walk another few more hours on the scenic trail that takes us to Langtang village (3455m) where we shall be resting overnight.

After reaching the Langtang village, we shall have another 1hour session of retreat yoga and meditation in the evening to end the day.

Day 6 : Trek to Kyanjin Gumba

Regular 1 hour of retreat yoga and meditation shall be provided early morning. Leaving the beautiful valley behind we trek towards Kyanjin Gomba (3817m) a principle monastery of the region. From here we will have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Mt. Langtang Lirung(7227m).

After reaching Gumba, in evening there we shall have relaxing retreat yoga and meditation for the rest day.

Day 7 : Rest Day in Langtang / hike to kying Ri

Before ascending down, a proper rest day is provided on this day. In this day our yoga session will be on the top of Kyanjin Ri for 3 hours with great view from the top. Other than resting and have acclimatization we have the option to go hike around Tserko Ri (5150m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773m). Also we can take a walk around Kyanjin Gompa enjoying the views glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks.

Day 8 : Head back to Lama Hotel

Before we start our journey down back again, we shall have 1 hour of retreat yoga and meditation session. We shall be heading back following the same trail that goes all the way downhill through the forest following the river. Passing by the ethnic Tamang settlements that follow the religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. On this day we have a walk of around 6 hours.

So, reaching back down again at Lama Hotel, here we shall be having 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session.

Day 9 : Trek to Syaprubesi

Before we ascend down there will be 2nd last session of our retreat yoga and meditation for 1 hour. On this day we have a trek of 5 hours which is easy as the trail follows downhill through the lush green vegetation.

After reaching Syaprubesi, in evening time there we shall have our last 1-hour session of retreat yoga and meditation.

Day 10 : Drive back to Kathmandu

We take the local bus back to Kathmandu following the same route as we had the one last time. And we end our journey reaching Kathmandu.

Day 11 : Final day at Transfer to Airport.

On this day, you shall be transferred to the International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight for an onward destination by a representative of Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours.
