Gosaikunda Yoga Trek

Gosaikunda yoga trek is a unique blend of adventures and spiritual journey in Nepal that offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, snow- capped peaks, beautiful landscapes, dense forests and traditional villages. Gosaikunda is a scared lake situated at an altitude of 4380 m in the Langtang region of the Himalayas, which holds great religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. You will be rewarded with mesmerizing sight of the lake, surrounded by snow- capped mountains. It is also believed that taking a dip in the holy waters of Gosaikunda, cleanse sins and bring blessings. That’s why it is considered an ideal place for spiritual practices and can find inner peace.

The Gosaikunda yoga trek is suitable for trekkers with a moderate level of fitness. The trek takes you through lush forests, picturesque villages, incredible mountain scenery, and allowing you to experience the local culture and lifestyle of the ethnic communities residing in the region.    

Best season to visit

The best season for the Gosaikunda yoga trek in Nepal is during the spring and autum offering most favorable weather conditions, clear skies, and stable trekking trails. It’s a great time to witness the vibrant colors of nature and enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains.

Altitude sickness

 While ascending quickly you may feel symptoms like nausea, headache, difficulty in breathing, increased heart rate, and uneasiness. And, if the symptoms persist for a longer duration then know that your body could not resist the altitude variation. If you feel these symptoms, please let your guide and your group know. Your guide will provide you with immediate first aid.

Permits

Gosainkunda is located in Langtang regions. So to trek in the Langtang region, you will need to obtain two different permits.

Guide and Porter

According to Nepal tourism board, “all the trekkers are required to obtain services of licensed trekking guide and to obtain TIMS card through authorized trekking agencies registered with the government of Nepal.”

Foods and lodging

During the trek, our guide will choose the best teahouse/ lodge for you to stay in based on their experience and availability of a room. The teahouse will provide room in a twin- shared basis with just a bed with pillow, blankets, and mattresses. 

Tea shops and lodges usually provide plentiful and delicious foods to suit the preferences of various trekkers. All the food will be cooked by the local cook by using local vegetables so the taste would be very local. Nepali Dal Bhat is a chief dish with organic and healthy fresh green vegetable curry. However, the many teahouses provide food with Nepali, Indian, Italian, Tibetan, and continental flavours.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu Arrival and Transfer to Hotel

On your arrival to Kathmandu from Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), the representative from Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours welcomes you and then you shall be transferred to the categorized Hotel in Kathmandu to which you are comfortable with. Later in the afternoon, you shall have 2 hours yoga session, yogic breathing, and meditation for relaxation.

Day 2 : Kathmandu to Dhunche Bazzar by Local bus 5 hours

The first day of our trek ends at Dhunche taking the local bus unless we hire private vehicles. If we hire private vehicles there would be an extra charge as the private vehicle is not included in the package. Dhunche is a small village yet widely inhabited with plenty of hotels.

After reaching the hotel, in the evening time, there will be 2 hours of retreat yoga session for relaxation in the hotel.

Day 3 : Trek from Dhunche to Chandanbari -5 hours

Starting the day with 1 hour of retreat yoga and meditation we will move ahead. We have a formidable staircase, after walking for about 20-30 minutes from Dhunche. From then onwards, it’s climbing up for about 2-3 hours until we reach Deurali. The next stop is Dhimsa, a few hours walk from Deurali. During our trail, we have plenty of green forest with pine, silver oak, and rhododendron.

To end the day, we shall have another 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session at today’s destination.

Day 4 : Trek from Chandanbari to Gosainkunda 5 hours

Our trek will begin with a quick 2 hours retreat yoga and meditation session for the relaxed beginning of the day. Trek to Gosainkunda (3200m) 5hrs, on our trip we have a rugged trail with dramatic views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. Eventually, the trail descends from the ridge to the first of three lakes Saraswati Kunda, Bhairab Kunda and Gosain Kunda one after another.

After reaching the residence, we shall be doing 2 hours retreat yoga and meditation session in the evening time.

Day 5 : Gosainkunda rest day

Before ascending down, a proper rest day is provided on this day and in the early morning, we shall have 2 hours retreat yoga and meditation session for the better day. Acclimatization day, The Gosainkunda Lake remains completely frozen for about 5 months’ time, generally from October to May. Gosainkunda Lake is one of the most sacred religious sites for Hindus, with thousands of Pilgrims. So on this day we are taking rest and explore the surroundings here.

For the better start off tomorrow morning, a better and sound sleep is needed. So, in the evening time, there will be 2hours retreat yoga and meditation session again.

Day 6 : Trek from Gosainkunda to Chandanbari 5 hours

Before we start our journey down back again, we shall have 1 hour of retreat yoga and meditation session. On this day we head back to Chandanbari through the same route we had the other day leaving Gosainkunda.

So, reaching back down again at Chandanbari, here we shall be having 1-hour retreat yoga and meditation session.

Day 7 : Trek from Chandanbari to Dhunche Bazzar 4 hours

Before we ascend down there will be 2nd last session of our retreat yoga and meditation for 1 hour. Then, we again leave for Dhunche the same place where we started our trail of retreat yoga trek.

After reaching Dunche Bazzar, in evening time there we shall have our last 1-hour session of retreat yoga and meditation.

Day 8 : Drive back to Kathmandu 5 hours

Drive back to Kathmandu, if you want to go by bus early in the morning be ready else by jeep whenever you want.

Day 9 : Final Departure from Kathmandu

On this day, you shall be transferred to the International Airport at least 3 hours before your flight for an onward destination by a representative of Nepal Holiday Treks and Tours.
