Overview

The Gosaikunda trek is a popular trekking route located in the Langtang region of the Himalayas in Nepal, offers stunning mountain views, pristine forests, and takes you to the sacred lake of Gosainkunda. Gosainkunda Lake (4380m) has great religious significance which is well-known as a pilgrimage site for Hindus who flock to the site in august during Janaipurnima. The Hindus believe that the lake connects to Lord Shiva and all the Hindu deities descend to the lake in Janaipurnima so, taking bath during Janaipurnima purify the souls through various sins. Here, you can witness more than 108 small lakes including Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kund as core. The lake melts to form the Trishuli River. Moreover, the River in winter season remains frozen for six months.

The place Gosaikunda is a pilgrimage for the Hindus and Buddhists, believed to be created by Lord Shiva with his Trishul. During Janaipurnima festival thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit Gosaikunda. The holy glacial lake of gosaikunda is designed for those who want to feel alpine zone and experience Himalayan and classic mountain treks.

Gosainkunda trek is considered a moderately difficult trek that takes you through Langtang National Park, where you can encounter diverse flora and fauna, including rhododendron forests, monkeys, and various bird species. Along the trail, you will pass through several traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages. Similarly the trail involves both ascending and descending sections which includes steep and rocky terrain.

Best season to visit

The spring and the autumn season is the best season for the Gosainkunda Trek in terms of weather and convenience. Spring and falls are the most favorable season for all trekking regions of Nepal. Similarly, the days are also sunny, the heat is abundant, and the evenings are quite chilly. Above all there is very chance of you falling in love with the blessed charm of the Gosainkunda region. So this eventually means that every season is tailor- made for being on this particular trekking journey. The monsoon/ summer offer you incredible mountain scenes, but trails are slippery, and often time’s landslide blocks the trekking path.
